We have been working in partnership with Huddersfield New College to develop a children's interactive feature for the sculpture trail website.

Students studying for their National Diploma in Media, Art and Games Design created an interactive learning activity for Key Stage 2 primary school children (ages 8-11).

The aim of this project was to create a fun activity to inspire and encourage children who would not otherwise be particularly interested in 'sculpture'.

Huddersfield New College students

Huddersfield New College students working on the interactive feature visited the Colne Valley in October 2007 to get inspiration for their work.

The trip was a great success and we were lucky to have glorious sunshine for our walk along the canal from Marsden to Slaithwaite.

"There are some really interesting ideas and some very artistic work being produced"

(Karen Anderson, Huddersfield New College staff)

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Linthwaite Clough School tested out the animations during an afternoon of trials in December 2007.

They left feedback for the college students, who made final adjustments to their designs, before presenting them for selection.

Seventeen animations were submitted to the sculpture trail committee, who chose four for the project.

An exhibit featuring the animations will tour various venues in the Colne Valley, including libraries and primary schools, in Summer 2008.
